 Dimbulagala Raja Maha ViharayaπŸ™

Dimbulagala Raja Maha Viharaya is located 16 km southeast of the ancient city of Polonnaruwa in Sri Lanka.

This temple is easily accessible from Polonnaruwa via Manampitiya and Dalukana. This road passes Dimbulagala and passes through Siripura ,Dehiattakandiya to Mahiyanganaya.

The Mahavamsa reveals that the Dimbulagala mountain which looks beautiful to the Polonnaruwa area was known as Udumbaragiri and Dhumarakka Pabbatha in ancient times. The British called it Gunners Coin.

It is the tallest mountain in the area. Its height is 534 meters.

Seelalankara Thero of Kithalagama, Matara visited the cave in 1954. The Thera took steps to develop Dimbulagala by rebuilding temples and anointing children of ''Vedda' families.

Several temple buildings built by Ven. Seelalankara Thero can be seen at the foot of the hill.

Dimbulagala Thero assisted in the construction of settlements in this area, the provision of paddy lands, infrastructure facilities, houses etc. and the resettlement of people from various parts of Sri Lanka to the area.

The whole country was saddened when he died in a terrorist shooting in 1995.πŸ˜“πŸ˜

Dimbulagala, a beautiful mountain range, is a place of pilgrimage for Buddhist pilgrims.

An eco-friendly event for nature lovers.

It is seen that Dimbulagala was the main religious center in Sri Lanka at that time.

Going to Dimbulagala today, you will see monasteries, statues and monasteries built in the recent past at the foot of the hill. You can also pay homage to them and visit the ancient ruins and caves located at the top of the hill.

A dagoba has recently been built at the highest point on the hills. That place is called the Sky Palace. Many devotees climb the mountain to pay homage to the sky.

Here you can see a beautiful view of the surrounding Rajarata plain.

This is a beautiful place for you to come and experienceπŸ’
